Ah, I know, I know, I have that Goddess series to finish. I'm on it, I promise. But I just had to draw this because I can already feel my Asian-drama-high for this show fading.

This is a silly picture of the drama It Started With a Kiss. Not exactly the same chibi style as for my Hana Kimi picture
but I still wanted to evoke the same idea.

Basic premise of the show? Ariel Lin's character has had a crush on Joe Cheng's character for years and decides to give him a love letter--the problem is, he's got an IQ of 200 and doesn't like stupid girls, and she's not exactly the brightest crayon in the box. Life starts off pretty sucky for her--she gets rejected pretty harshly, she loses her home in an earthquake, and then finds out she is going to live at her dad's friend's house. And of course, her dad's friend happens to be the father of Joe Cheng's character.

And also, Jiro Wang plays, yet again, the guy pining after the girl (except at least here, he knows she's a girl, ha), yet doomed to lose out to the heartthrob of the show. Except here, his character is slightly more serious and less comedic than in Hana Kimi.

Ridiculous and incredibly contrived? To say the least. But lovable and adorable? Clearly.

If you want a glimpse of what the show is like, watch the music video for the ending song: [link]

I must say I'm annoyed that Ariel Lin doesn't look right at all despite trying multiple times to redraw her face, and Jiro looks bizarre, as apparently I can't figure out what he looks like at all, even if I'm only drawing part of his face. I guess Joe Cheng's half-smirk makes up for it. :D

Oh yeah, and the reason Ariel looks tiny in comparison to Joe is because he's 6'2". Which is ridiculous in Taiwan. Especially when she's 5'3" and had to stand on a box for some scenes. Ah but it's so cute. :D

Thanks! :D

omg.... you like ISWAK too? whoa... me too! Actually that's not so strange considering you like Hana Kimi too. So I'm guessing you've heard of Fahrenheit? Oh, yeah I forgot to compliment you--> I definitely see Joe Cheng and his expression is quite accurate. And you did well capturing the other characters...how poor Jiro is upset and jealous...and Ariel is obsessed with Joe.... very cute! Now you need to watch Devil Beside You or Love Contract (Ariel is in this one) and then make another cute picture!

Thank you! Laugh, I just watched ISWAK last week, and I'm so excited that they're making a sequel. And yeah, I found the Fahrenheit album, as well. And I was thinking about Devil Beside You later on (I don't have time right now), but I hear the ending is not so great. I don't even really know anything about Mike He/Rainie Yang, but I am already a fan (and of course Joe Cheng/Ariel Lin). :D

yes, I've heard about another season of ISWAK! But I still need to finish the first season on youtube...lol... oh, yeah, the ending of Devil Beside You is a failure. I think the producers/directors pretty much gave up at the end. Otherwise, it's amazing.... actually I just watched it for Mike He.

I read a lot that Joe Cheng is gay... there's no evidence, right? just stupid rumors?

Oh...hmm, I don't do well with shows that have a bad ending. :( Maybe it'll be one of the shows that I watch the first and last episodes so I get a taste of what it was like without getting too emotionally attached.

I haven't heard that he's gay, but I don't really know too much about him. I'd say it'd be a shame for all the girls pining after him, but really, it's not like any of them (us?) would have a chance regardless. Not to say I didn't feel a stab of disappointment when you said that... ^^;

If you were to live a hundred years, I want to live a hundred years minus one, so I would never have to live a day wothout you..
:iconwaldenp:
Well, definitely watch the first episode...although it will probably remind you of ISWAK. haha: you wrote "without getting too emotionally attached"....

What!!!?!?!? we don't have any chance at him? Are you a pessimist? jk. (more of a realist) I understand that Joe/Mike/etc. only exist in our dreams. But if Joe did state that he's gay then it would be real funny... all these girls (including me I guess) would be attracted to a gay guy. That's just funny to me... :rofl:another great guy that is reserved for the male population.

oops, I think I replied to my own comment again... so, refer to the one above...

Laugh, as they say, all the good guys are either taken or gay (or celebrities far away, as it were).
