So I really like this couple, and I've been trying to think of different ways of portraying my favorite anime couples. For Heero and Relena (of Gundam Wing), I thought it'd be interesting to draw them as if they were in a war from the past. My initial idea was Civil War, but then I was dreading drawing Relena's poofy dress. So I thought for about five seconds more and voila, World War II. I thought it was somewhat appropriate because the war in Gundam Wing involves everyone in the world, and those on the colonies and...I don't know. Big war. That's the connection. Anyway, The 40s are my favorite decade, so I went for it.

The reference for their pose is something I found when I googled "couple". Relena's outfit was also googled. Heero's uniform...well, okay, so I have no clue what the things on his left arm are supposed to mean, so it's also based on a Google image. (Wow, I should get paid for all this Google advertising). I sorta wanted to draw back into Gundam Wing, so the 4 that was on the original man's unifrom was turned into P for Preventers.

There are a lot of mess ups on this one. For example, Heero's right hand looks short and stubby because it's supposed to look foreshortened and I sorta suck on perspective. Also, I used the color scheme for my other Heero/Relena piece (Embrace [link]) so...I dunno, most noticeably, Relena's hair has got some bizarre shading on it. I'm just glad that I didn't do another blue background.

In short, this is a ridiculously long description. I'm just glad I got this finished today so I could post something else before I leave. So huzzah for that.

[Edit] Okay, major apologies for the wood thing just sorta ending without warning on the right side...I really didn't know what to do with it. It really looks out of place there at all, but the couple in the reference picture are on a boat, so...I don't know. Just wanna say that it bothers me too, you're not alone.
